10 000 Lightyears, is Boney M's sixth studio album, the first to be released on compact disc and the first to feature Reggie Tsiboe who
had taken over from Bobby Farrel. Originally scheduled for relased in autumn 1983, with Jambo Hakuna-Matata as the lead single, but postponed until spring 1984, due to
poor sales of the Jambo single. The album was due to carry on the themes from Boonoonoonoos, however producer Frank Farien
re-worked the A side of the album in to a space theme, and as a result the album title 10 000 Lightyears came in to being.
The album was launched in May 1984, along with a ZDF TV special. The single chosen to promote the album was Somewhere In The World, but
this became the 4th Boney M single not to make the German top 40, however the album did make #23 in the charts, but didn't really do
as well in other countries, resulting in the planned second single Living Like A Moviestar being cancelled.
